I’m Kate Szekely, an actor, producer, and teacher with a passion for bringing stories, projects, and people to life.
Originally from Detroit, I grew up immersed in the vibrant culture of my family: an eclectic blend of Polish farmers and Hungarian gypsies. Armed with the work ethic of the Poles and the fire of the Gypsies, I pmoved to New York City, at the tender age of 18 and-two-weeks, to chase the acting bug. Since then, I’ve garnered over a decade of industry experience: performing and producing extensively both in the US and internationally; ushering independent films from development to distribution; and creating award-winning content across media platforms.
A classically trained actor, I earned my BFA in Theatre with Honors from NYU Tisch and the Stella Adler Studio of Acting. I have starred in acclaimed productions such as Nellie & the Women of Blackwell (Winner of Broadway World’s Best Immersive Production 2021), Pretending to Fly (Edinburgh Fringe Festival), In Their Footsteps (59E59, OnStage! Festival Italy). On screen, you can see me in major supporting roles on large platforms like Jagged Mind (Hulu) and DNA Secrets (Lifetime).
As a producer, I thrive on collaboration and bringing ambitious projects to life. I currently work with Infinite Variety Productions —a nonprofit dedicated to untold women’s stories, a/b studios — a Knoxville-based production house specializing in genre films with heart and smarts, and am currently developing my own production company — Epiphany Junkie: a Florida-rooted production house creating character-rich, emotionally resonant, and culturally subversive films and narrative content that invite audiences to co-create a trans-media storytelling culture .
I am a chronic student-through-teaching, I’ve led workshops and classes integrating yoga, fitness, and acting techniques, empowering individuals to deepen their self-awareness, enhance their body-mind connection, and express themselves authentically. I’m a 800-hour certified Jivamukti Yoga teacher and a NASM Personal Trainer and Corrective Exercise Specialist.
When I’m not doing the thing, I thoroughly enjoy the Florida life. I’m a BJJ practitioner (blue belt), hike in swamps, paddleboard, cook, and scout out my next travel adventure.
